Frequently Asked Questions

Is hyperventilation dangerous?

When you read warnings about holotropic breathwork, you often find them exaggerated and entirely theoretical. The truth is that the “hyperventilation” sought in holotropic breathwork is nothing like the kind of hyperventilation that accompanies a panic attack. The idea of holotropic breathwork is simply to breathe a little deeper, a little faster than usual, until something happens. When practised responsibly and always in the presence of someone trained in this type of support, holotropic breathwork is very safe and potential problems purely anecdotal. If a person is able to exercise lightly or moderately, they can usually tolerate holotropic breathwork without any problems.
